Egyptian Judiciary Takes Revenge on Regime Punishers

Misdemeanor Appeals Court of Port Said (East and Port) upheld the judgment no. 1338/2006 against Police Captain; Ahmed Tawfik Ali who was sentenced for one year and comprehensive suspension for three years. The court ordered to refer the civil claim to the competent court.

The accused has been convicted with abusing Kefaya Youth Coordinator; Mohamed Hegazi by beating him severely at Port Said while demonstrating at Al-Shohdaa Square on 27 April 2005. Policemen attacked some journalists of Al-Ahram Weekly and Al-Masry Al-Youm newspapers while practicing their job by covering Kefaya demonstration there.
