Ex- President of Liberia was arrested

1/4/2006

On Wednesday 29 March 2006, Nigerian police forces announced that they managed to arrest ex-president of Liberia; Charles Taylor while he was crossing the boundaries between Nigeria and Cameron to get out of the country after he disappeared from his resident in East Southern Nigeria.

This took place 48 hrs following the Nigerian announcement that "Liberia is absolutely free to arrest Taylor".

Taylor is primarily demanded to appear before War Crime Court in Sierra Leone.

He is expected to face 17 accusation of committing anti-human war crimes because of the role he played in the brutal civil war of Sierra Leone in support of insurgents who deformed the corps of civilians.

Taylor lived in his banishment in Nigeria since 2003 after he waived his position as a president under End Civil War Deal that took place since 1989.
