Renewal of imprisonment of Mosaad Abo Fagr for extra 15 days
Human rights organization consider Abo Fagr as a prisoner of conscious

    Cairo February, 7th, 2008

Egyptian human rights organizations denounced today the continued imprisonment of political blogger and activist Mosaad Abo Fagr the head of the movement (we want to live) or "wedna naeesh" for extra 15 days though he has been detained for more than 40 days on several charges aiming to take revenge of him because of his supporting role to Sinai Bedouins.

On December 26th, 2007, Abo Fagr was arrested and was accused with charges that security bodies used to lever against those political activists calling for democracy. The same charges such as instigation to riot and sabotage of public properties…etc were levered against him, as his imprisonment renewal was decided by the general prosecution repeatedly.

Moreover, El-Areish prosecution in Sinai denied any relation to the seizure of security bodies over Abo Fagr's car. They mentioned also that he may be accused in other cases, as Abo Fagr's lawyers from El-Areish and from Hisham Mubarak Law Center would file an official notice about his stolen car one moth ago.

This comes in the time that Cairo International Book Fair witnessed the running out of all Abo Fagr novel copies (Talaat El-Badn) or (the countenance of the body) where he discussed the security bodies' severe violations suffered by Sinai Bedouins as the Egyptian government is trying to conceal and hide all the time.

The human rights organization undersigned on this statement considered Mosaad Abo Fagr a prisoner of conscious as they are calling the Egyptian authorities anew for setting him free and respecting the constitution, law and international charters that Egypt ratified upon, with regard to protection of freedom of expression, the right of peaceful gathering and the right of fair trial for Abo Fagr.
