An Appeal to the Egyptian Prosecutor
Concerning the Prosecution's Situation from Karim Amer's Revocation
And the Bill against the Judge Abdel Fatah Murad

Cairo, 12 April 2007

the Arabic Network for Human Rights Information (HRINFO) presented an appeal to the Prosecutor - General to order members of the prosecution in East Alexandria Integral Court to stop hindering the revocation of the Egyptian Blogger Karim Amer's trial. In details, HRINFO's lawyer faced stalling and annoyance during her presence in the prosecution. Moreover, HRINFO calls upon an investigation to the bill presented ten days ago against the judge Abdel Fatah Mourad and no procedure done until this time.

Relatively, HRINFO's lawyer Rawda Ahmed traveled to Alexandria many times to hold the appeal sentence of Karim Amer to enable his defense team to appeal for the revocation. However, it was not this easy because some members in the prosecution - when they find that trial concern the blogger Amer- refused to hold the appeal for Rawda, while it is legal to hold an official verdict.
This prohibition caused clashes between HRINFO's lawyer Rawda and members of the prosecution, who stalled and criticized her defense role for the blogger Amer.

On this context, Rawda presented an appeal to the Prosecutor- General to order immediately members of the prosecution to stop hindering Amer's revocation procedures, being a prisoner he has the right to complete his defense procedures, which guaranteed by the law. The prosecutors also must ignore their personal opinions which halt prisoners' right to appeal (guaranteed by the law) and discard the reasons of accusations.

In addition, HRINFO appeals to the Prosecutor -General to open investigation to the bill presented ten days ago against the judge Abdel Fatah Mourad of stealing HRINFO's right to intellectual property. On the other hand, the Prosecutor had previously declared immediate investigation to crimes of intellectual property, published in Al- Masry Al-Youm Newspaper in the issue [30 March 2007) http://12.47.45.221/article.aspx?ArticleID=52982&r=t This provides exclamations were HRINFO's appeal did not carry proceed in any means until now, while the judge's fabricated appeal against HRINFO's director and the two bloggers Manal and Alaa proceeded in no time. This trial clears up the inequality of law which sides with one of the foils counter the other because of a judge's rank.

HRINFO again calling for a neutral investigation in its trial with the judge to avoid favoring a foil counters the other were the judge's fabricated crimes defuses HRINFO's bills due to his rank as a judge, which clears up the inequality of the law.
