Freedom of expression is missing despite the decree annulling imprisonment in press crimes
Despite the wise decision issued by Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoom-the prime minister and Dubai's governor- not to imprison journalists in press crimes yet this decision is threatened these days from a number of ministries and bodies in the U.A.E who welcomed the decision before yet they would implement articles of the law in some cases and manipulate it, distorting the goal behind it in other cases a practice that opposes the open-minded spirit that is sweeping the U.A.E.

The authorities in the Emirates and in Dubai specifically on November 17,2007 took the step to cut the channels' programs off the air on U.A.E. the ministry of culture and media banned the Kholkhal play from participating in the gulf theatre festival just four hours before its crew went on board for the festival.the Emirates also saw the prohibition of writing slapped on a number of writers and a wave of lawsuits hitting majan website and a new libel and defamation case against the owner of an electronic sport website in Ras Alkheima along with screening out and prohibition on publishing.

The Universal Day. fighting violence against women
The world celebrated on November 25 the universal day for countering violence against women and this day is regarded a good chance to support women against all sorts of violence they face. the Syrian authorities stopped a forum about violence against women and in coordinated raid led by the head of Ein Alarab police they stormed into the house of the political activist Aisha Afendi Bint Ahmed( Um Wallat).these events expose the false image the Syrian authorities promote about" Civilized Syria" while women suffer all the time from all sorts of violence and discrimination.

Justice in Egypt is not alright
11 days passed since a communiqué was sent to the Prosecutor-General about the torturing of blogger Karim Amer in Borg Alarab prison without ordering an investigation, a matter that raises concerns and doubts about justice and leaves the door open for impunity from punishment in Egypt.

While the Arabic Network for Human Rights Information welcomed today the administrative court's decision issued yesterday to halt a previous decision issued by the Minster of Justice to change the trial's venue of Egyptian Aldostur newspaper's Chief Editor Ibrahim Issa from the Algalaa court to New Cairo City's court the case was dubbed as "rumors about the president's health"..the Arabic Network believed that this decision demonstrates the persistence of the Egyptian government to repress freedom of expression and to prosecute outspoken journalists.
