    Amman centre fro human rights saw this week the conclusion of the "political reform and the role of international partners" forum. The forum hosted 25 intellectual, academic and partisan figures.
    This week also saw the conclusion of the tenth course in monitoring parliamentary election. 21 members from civil societies and organizations have participated in this course.

    Tunisia

    Freedoms
    Seven Tunisian sailors released last Monday 10 September after they were arrested last Aug and sent to jail in Italy as they were trying to save 44 illegal immigrants from death after their boat was going down. The sailors stood trail for "accessory to illegal immigration".

    Attacks on civilians
    A suicidal attack in Batna claimed 22 lives at least and 107 injuries on 6th October.. Amnesty international called for and end to these attacks on civilians in Algeria which constitute serious violations of the international law.

    Dr. Abdullah Al-Hamid ,An outspoken human rights activist standing trial for demanding to see search warrants against Reema Al-Jerish the wife of human rights activist Muhammed Al-Hamly and another woman who joined a protest in front of the deputy of state security building for detaining a number of people in Kaseem .Amnesty International believes that Dr. Al-Hamid is a prisoner of conscience and his trial is related to his peaceful activities regarding the right to freedom of expression.

    Habib Saleh one of Damascus Spring prisoner released on 12 Sept after spending the bigger half of his prison sentence for publicizing false news according to the verdict issued by the military court.

    Human rights
    The Arab organization for human rights in Syria cited a letter from Khaleel Abdullah a Syrian with special needs in which he expresses his despair about finding a job and called on the Syrian government to find to take effective measures as providing employment opportunities to individual with special needs according to the Syrian constitution.

    Destruction. Jibla monuments
    Ancient monuments are suffering from the wave of investment booms hitting the surrounding areas and reducing the significance of these monuments by annexing them to hotels or malls which will cause their historical value to die down over the coming years.

    Media
    The deteriorating security conditions caused by the armed groups and the unpunished crimes against journalists mark the expected collapse of media organizations in Iraq as the observatory of press freedoms highlighted in its annual report on the conditions of journalist in Iraq since September last year, 61 journalist and fixers, 23 journalists abducted most of them killed while 6 claimed lost, 24 four journalists saw various assaults, two media outlets were totally destroyed and prompted the Iraqi society for human rights to launch its " Da'im" program seeking legal aid for journalists facing cases related to publishing and the practice of journalism.

    Palestine

    Attacks on journalists
    Last week saw an assault launched by the executive force on a number of journalists and protesters, a number of journalists was detained for hours and have their cameras destroyed. Threats to fire bullets against those journalists were made while they were covering the executive forces breaking a demonstration after Friday's prayers in Gaza, security forces also halted a students' festival on 9th September, a number of journalists were also assaulted during covering this festival.

    Isreali violations
    As a part of its methodical collective punishment against Palestinians including children, 210 Palestinians were abducted since June 2007 and 17 children in Beit Hanun lost their lives between July 2006 and August 2007. The killing and apologies became an Israeli policy to appease international reactions.

    Egypt

    Civil society and trails
    The deputy of state security decided to refer Ibrahim Essa Al-Dostur editor in chief to Bolaq court on Monday 1st October for publishing false news and rumors disturbed the public interest. Ibrahim saw a flagrant persecutory campaign coordinated by a number of pro-government newspapers and the supreme council of journalism and through flawed biased investigations to take Essa and his newspaper down.

    Human rights organizations will participate in a protest on Sunday 16 September 10:00 am in front of the building of the Association of legal aid in Maaroof Street to voice their condemnations on the decision to close the association down.

    Morocco

    Arrest
    The new horizon and radio MFM sous's reporter Mr. AlHussein Argdal was beaten and detained for a number of hours while covering police brutality during a peaceful protest organized by unemployed individuals.

    Moroccan elections
    After 50 years since Morocco gained its independence, Democracy still staggering according to the official surveys covering the last elections which saw a 37% turn-out only and many violations were committed.

    Egypt and Emirates: trails and prison for writers and journalists
    HRINFO covered the case of Al-Dostur's boss Mr.Ibrahim Essa and regarded the decision to send to a special court a justice went berserk blinded by vengeance

    HRINFO also expressed its deep worries about the new verdict issued by Ras Kheima court against Khalid Al-Asly a writer in Majan.net who received 5 months in prison and also Muhammed Shouhi the head administrator in Majan.net who also received the same sentence while waiting for two other cases against Majan.net and Shouhi in particular. HRINFO believes that even those accusations were true it still render the freedom of expression as part of the past.
