    Capital punishment
    In a symposium about the possibility of establishing a Mauritanian alliance against the capital punishment 9th Aug in Nouakchott organized by the Mauritanian society for sustained development, human rights and good governance team in the civil society forum in cooperation with Amman center for human rights studies and the international organization for criminal reform .the participants announced the formation of a Mauritanian alliance against the capital punishment as a part of the Arab alliance against the capital punishment. The Mauritanian alliance includes 27 NGOs in addition to 19 of the academic, human rights, media and social figures.

    Syria

    Freedom of movement and travel
    The Syrian authorities denied the opposition activist Riyad Seif( a former MP detained in 2001 with nine individual in what was described as Damascus spring, released in 2006 after spending 4 years and5 months .he was sentenced for 5 years in prison) the right to travel abroad in order to receive appropriate medical care as he suffering from cancer, this prohibition is unlawful and unconstitutional as it wasn't issued from security services and not from legislative body without producing any justification for this decision .HRINFO and the national organization for human rights in Syria issued two separate statements on Riyad's prohibition fro traveling abroad.

    Freedom of expression
    The Syrian centre for media and freedom of expression issued concerning the establishment of the Syrian journalists union 16 years ago in which he called upon the executive office of the journalist union to reform law no 1/1990 which eliminated the union role and turned it to a beauracratic organization that doesn’t represent the journalists neither defends journalism values.

    The Syrian government celebrated the memory of this law. the Syrian center for media and freedom of expression in its statement quoted HRINFO story about Seif Khaiat an Iraqi journalist working for a Japanese news agency in Damascus as he has been assaulted by agents of the Syrian security services and coerced to sign a written obligation according to which he has to leave the country within 3 days on grounds of covering the presidential election.

    Journalists and media workers
    The Iraqi society fro journalist rights is calling upon the occupation forces to free journalist Muhamed Kabey who was detained in 22nd Feb 2007 without any indictment ; also asks to transfer his case before the Iraqi legislative as it urged the ministry of human rights to assume its role and release unindicted detainees.

    Mada centre expresses its deep concerns regarding the insidious deterioration of media freedoms as the photographer of Ramatan agency was detained for covering clashes between the executive force and guests in a wedding in Beit hanoun .journalists were also denied form covering a sit-in organized by a group of local activists in Gaza, Abu-Dhabi TV photographer Muhamed Salha was assaulted and has his camera confiscated, Ramatan's photographer Ahmed Elras was detained for a brief time and released after having his video footages confiscated and lastly Alarabiya satlliate TV office saw a break-in where the tapes that show the sit-in in Gaza was confiscated.

    Prisoners and detainees
    Human rights watch called upon the Libyan government to drop charges against 12 males one of them with a Danish nationality. The 12 males are standing trail for organizing a peaceful political protes in the capital Tripoli.

    Violations and torture
    The torture gang of the ministry of interiors is continuing on violating the constitution and the Egyptian laws by humiliating the dignity of the citizens to the extent of denying them the right to life .five human rights organization in a joint statement condemned the murder of 12 year old boy at the hands of the police officers in Elmansoura police station .the legal aid society asked the attorney general to investigate an assault on a citizen for refusing to pay money for a member of the police in Sharkey governorate.

    Arab affairs
    Violations of human rights in Iraq became methodical at the hands of the multinational force, the Iraqi government, and the armed militant groups .under this title, Cairo center for human rights study issued a statement about the violations of human rights in Iraq. Iraq is a special case regarding the issue of human rights as in addition to the occupation there are also a number of aggravating factors i.e. the sectarian conflict which is aggravating the violations of human rights.

    Morocco

    Freedom of expression
    Ban slapped on both" Neeshan" and " Telle quelle" Magazines in Morocco for publishing an editorial titled" after five years in power" which criticized the monarch address by the Moroccan king. Ahmed Shamsy the editor of Neeshan in Arabic and Telle quelle in French talked about the oppressive measures the Moroccan authorities took which were also mentioned in a statement by the Egyptian organization for human rights which for a solidarity campaign with the Moroccan press to stop the authorities in morocco from prosecuting the editor and remove the ban on his magazine.

    Freedom of expression
    Reporters without frontiers called upon the Israeli authorities to reveal the investigation results regarding the fire assault by the Israeli soldiers on the Palestinian journalist Emmad Ghanem." Emad Ghanim is going through a hard time as he is waiting for a proper chance to go to Egypt for prosthetic legs and rehabilitation sessions he also asked the Israeli and the Egyptian authorities to help him obtain the appropriate medical care" a statement for RSF said.

    Regarding Syria , HRINFO issued two statements this week, the first was to urge the Syrian government to allow the former MP Riyad Seif to travel abroad to receive medical care for cancer from which he has been suffering fro 2 months due to lack of appropriate medication.

    The second statement titled" the Syrian government must investigate the assault on an Iraqi journalist),HRINFO said in a statement that the Syrian government must investigate the assault on the Iraqi journalist Seif Khaiat in a fair and honest manner .Seif was assaulted brutally by members of the political security services just before forcing him to leave the country last June .
