Fourth year 6 July 2007 - 12 July 2007 Jordan ======== Civil Society More than fifty Jordanian civil society organizations carries on its behalf a draft of an honor agreement for civil society organizations in Jordan. The project seeks to abide with promoting democracy, human rights, rule of law, fair ruling and justice for all Jordanian citizens. In addition to respecting equality, equivalent rights, fulfilling dignity, promoting social justice and eliminating all sorts of discrimination on religious, racial or sectarian, the necessity to respect work in peace and eliminating all sorts of violence. Earlier, websites such as the modern dialogue, Middle East (Shafaf) Transparent, the Syrian Democratic Meeting, Damascus Power, East News, Kuwaiti Politics, Middle East in London, Eilaph, Arab Times, Islam on Line and the Future in Lebanon, in addition to the world email (hotmail) website. This week accordingly, they blocked the Kurdish Committee for Human Rights website and the cultural news website "Keskor". Moreover, on the same day, a group of anonymous gun men assassinated the journalist "Seif el Dein Beirawgely", editor - in - chef of the literary newsletter "Ayashbaq", in Kirkok City - North Iraq. Sources More information, please visit: http://www.hrinfo.net/iraq ========================== Palestine ======== Protecting Journalists The Palestinian Center for Development and Media Freedoms (Mada) and Balance Center for Human Rights issued two separate releases on the subject of firing on Al-Aqsa station photographer Emad Ghanem by the Israeli occupation forces in which they continued firing even after being injured, in a clear murder attempt. The photographer Ghanem injured badly extended to legs cut off, in another incident also occupation forces fired on the working group of both Al- Arabia station and Reuters Agency, even after being sheltered in a house, while they were covering Israeli forces' devastation to Al-Barbag camp. The release of Balance center ends with a severe denounce to the international society's silence to the war crimes done by occupation forces in the Palestinian occupied territories, in which it will encourage occupation forces to do more crimes. Destroying the Judiciary The Palestinian Center for Human Rights issued a release on the presidential decree which states on featuring military judiciary in the state of emergency, which violates the Palestinian civil judiciary competences to favor the military ones. In addition, the center describes this decree the graver in the series of presidential decrees issued in the subject of the state of emergency and it will destroy the judiciary and civil life to build a military Palestinian society, in active the constitution, confiscating public freedoms and setting military dictatorship. Moreover, it calls Israel to free Hamas ministers and parliamentarians whom arrested in a clear revenge act. The release stressed on the point which states that an illegal practice done by a group doesn't give a justification to the other group's illegal practice and it called Israel to stop any illegal practices in order to free Israeli prisoners. Moreover, Jerusalem Post newspaper and some other sources issued subjects that Israel, during the armed dispute in Lebanon Year 2006, had removed the corpses of 13 soldiers belong to Hisb Allah to Israel in order to be an instrument in negotiation with Hisb Allah, describing this act a violation to war laws, which oblige the two dispute foils to honor the dead soldiers' corpses by facilitating their return to their home country and kindred. The release calls for the necessity to hold fair investigation in these cases and punish the officials responsible for this default, which ends with the death of detainees inside detention places or during transferring prisoners in deportation trucks. They were convicted of provoking, distributing the association's releases and joining liability with the aggravated by the leader of the seventh province.
