Fourth year 25 May 2007 - 31 May 2007 Tunisia ======== The Siege on the Alliance On 26 May 2007, Interior Ministry ordered the security forces to hold a siege on the central office of the Tunisian Alliance for Human Rights held in Tunisia, in order to prevent convening a seminar under the title "the Tunisian Social Forum". The alliance's press release states the role of its activists in defending their rights in their legal activities and calls civil society organizations, political parties and national characters to defend the alliance and stand beside it in the critical circumstances. In addition, it calls national and regional organizations and its friends also to stand beside it. Another press release issued by the Arabic Organization for Human Rights condemned also Interior Ministry's harsh procedures against the alliance and the continuation of its siege. In light of the international obligations of the Tunisian authorities in the field of human rights, the Arabic Organization for Human Rights calls upon the President Zein El Abedin Ben Ali to interfere personally to stop these procedures and finish the continuous clash between the authorities and the alliance for more than 5 years. Some journalists judged in 17 litigations in cases suited by governmental and security authorities. Moreover, four cases closed until now, while the rest are still before court pending the verdict. Illegal executions, bombing houses and arresting activists and members of the Palestinian government all still in continuation. The legislative councils and the Palestinian rights organizations calls upon the international society to move quickly and provide international protection to the civilians and their property in the Palestinian occupied land immediately. In addition, to an immediate step forward to stop Israeli war crimes as a primary step to its legal and ethical obligations, which stipulated by international law and human rights standards towards the civil inhabitants in the occupied land. This done by following the criminals or the officials ordered to do these crimes and send them to prosecution. The Arabic Association for Reinforcing civil society and human rights issues a statement expressing its anxiousness to the negative climate of the process of elections, which based on tens of violations starting with the voting process until this moment, in which a siege is done on security directorates by hundreds of central security forces. Similarly, to the two security directorates in Alexandria and Al-Gharbia, the opposition candidates prevented from presenting their papers in order to let them lose the chance to get into competition. On the other hand, the Egyptian Organization for Human Rights issued a report under the title "the candidacy to Shoura Council's half regenerated elections … restrictions and transgressions". Moreover, One World Association for Development and Protecting Civil Society with the cooperation of Conrad Edinawer German Association organized a workshop for trainers to educate citizens to participate in electoral process. Human rights future in Egypt Nine organizations in the final of London conference issue a press release expressing their extreme anxiousness towards the condition of human rights in Egypt after the constitutional and legal amendments, which suggested by the ruling party in Egypt and passing it by a public referendum. The voters did not exceed 8% from all citizens scheduled in the voting list, and all observers including judges confirmed this issue. The elections and referendum processes in Egypt all over the centuries known by forgery and declaring results lack in all cases fairness and transparency. They must also call upon the US Congress to issue a legislation to close the camp, considered a black history to the United States.
