Fourth year 10 May 2007 - 16 May 2007 Jordan ======== Victims of freedom of opinion and expression Arabic Archive Association with the cooperation of the International Freedom of Expression Exchange (IFEX) and UNESCO in Amman issued a report on the assassination and murder acts of journalists in the Arab countries, including murdering 72 Arab journalists and writers and within 6 years, 12 women journalists and writers were murdered. More information about the report in the link page: http://www.hrinfo.net/ifex/alerts/jordan/2007/pr0511.shtml Amman Center for Human Rights Studies issued a report on 2006 parliamentary elections in the countries [Palestine - Kuwait -Yemen - Bahrain - Mauritania - Emirates]. It also discusses the relation between elections, democracy and human rights and concentrates on the elections' conformity with international standards and human rights' principles. It discusses also freedom of expression, social and political rights, women and youth's right to participate as a principal factor in promoting democratic elections. In addition to the suit against human rights' activists, Gamal Eid, Manal Hassan, Alaa Seif and Ahmed Seif El Islam. For ages, it played a distinguishing role in defending the citizens' principal rights discarding any intellectual or political affiliations. In addition, it always stands beside opinion prisoners, refused the cruel sentences and called for releasing the. Moreover, it calls upon authorities with no tedium to prescribe with the general amnesty. On this context, the Arabic Network for Human Rights Information congratulates members of the TADHR giving hope for better circumstances in the next celebration for all human rights' activists in Tunisia. Just prosecution A mother of two political prisoners the twin brothers Khaled and Waleed El Ayouny, since 3 May she is continuing in a hunger strike in her home, in which she lost her health and became unable to stand on her feet. However, she received many phone calls from other political prisoners' families and the human rights organizations, to join liability with her by giving information about the families who are holding hunger strikes to protest the ill treatment and torture acts the political prisoners are subjecting. Kilo sentenced to 3 years in prison, Kamal El liwany sentenced to 12 years in prison, Mahmoud Eissa subjected to 3 years in prison, Hussein El Shumur and Khalil Hussien subjected to 10 years in prison and finally, the Syrian activist Adel Mahfouz subjected to 6 months in prison. The prosecution carried exceptional and weird procedures, which leave a space to think about its fairness and the range of independence in judiciary in this case. The history of occupation determines killing, exiling and evicting 85% of the Palestinian civilians and destructing 531 house assemblies. The anniversary coincides with the prescription of 40 years for the Israeli occupation to the Palestinian territories in West Bank and Gaza Strip. It coincides also with the prescription of 90 years for the infamous Belford world declaration, which was the base of forming the Zionist community on the Palestinian land by force discarding the native inhabitants. It clears up the falsity of the government's actual situation concerning human rights, especially the assaults done in the last few years, which discard the legislative and constitutional guarantees. Besides, the illegal acts which violates the basic human rights' principles. On 14 May, civil society organizations convened a conference, in defense of the right of organization, to declare refusal of the administrative and security observatory over their work and calls for the importance of the existence of democratic standards in the laws of civil society work. The defense campaign it adopts is far away from any negotiations or any issue concerning victims of violations in Morocco. RSF denounced attacking the journalist Selim Bokhdir in the streets many times, because of an article he published about the president's kindred who is responsible for the scrambling of youth who attended the music party of Star Academy stars belong to Lebanon and many of them lost their soul. RSF issued another statement about Palestine, security disorder in Gaza Strip led to the death of two journalists, results from the facials between supporters of Hamas and Fath Palestinian movements. In its third statement, denounces arresting the Jordanian parliament member Ahmed Ewidy El Ayady in 3 May, because he published an online letter to present it to US Senator Harry Red, highlighting of the corrupted authority of King Abd Allah - the second.
