Name of the Book : Towards Developing Islamic Legislation
Author: Abdullah Al-Naem
Translation and introduction by: Hussein Ahmed Amin
Publisher: Cairo Institute for Human Rights Studies
Topic: Cairo Institute for Human Rights Studies (CIHRS) has lately published the second edition of "Towards Developing Islamic Legislation". The author tackles the Religion (Islam)-State issue, refuting in his thesis the arguments for the Islamic state. He argues that the demand of political Islamists to apply Islamic Law (Shariah) through the state legislative, judiciary and administrative bodies is a self-contradictory notion, even contradictory to the essence of the Islamic Law itself! Calling for an Islamic institutionalization of principles of democracy, human rights, constitutional rule and protection of human rights, the author stresses that such institutionalization contradicts the currently prevalent Islamic political discourse that aims to realize the so-called Islamic state. At the same time, the author attempts to find a new approach to handle enhancement of the rights to embrace and practice religion by rejecting enforcement of religious provisions through state institutions.

Author: Mohamed Kerishan
Topic:
In this new book of Bara'em series, a number of articles on different modern Arab and international satellite media are represented. Theses articles aim at expressing the interaction between journalist and the news story on both humanitarian and professional levels. They also argue discussion on the topics which cannot be discussed profoundly because of telecommunications revolution.
These topics expose the strong relationship between freedom of expression and journalist's professionalism. The common idea in these topics is the hope that the Arab media can be transformed to a pioneer position in the international media map. So that, freedom of press can be achieved and the leading rule of the Arab media can be played. Arab media should no longer take audience seat in respect with the major and serious events taking place everywhere in the whole glob.
The book is published in Bara'em book series of the Arab Commission for Human Rights with the purpose to start widespread debates between Human Rights and Press. The interaction between the fourth authority and the opponent authority is so critical for reform and avoiding the misuse of power by the ruling authority.

Name of the Book : Justice or Barbarianism
Publisher: Arab-European Publishing Foundation (Paris)
Author: Haitham Manaa
Topic:
In this comparison, justice is not the only and sole solution to Barbarianism. However, it is the basis of reconsidering nationalism and basic freedoms central targets of the suppressed people. Justice usually helps to establish collaborative civil relationships capable of resisting aggression as much as resisting sectarianism and chauvinism. Justice will gather both political and social and will not differentiate between what is secular and what is Islamic, what is African and what is American, etc. Spreading justice on the broader front is a must to resist the tyranny of power.
Justice is the higher common denominator of the components of modern renaissance which seeks liberation from sectarian walls, modernism faults, and extremism spirit. It is the boldness to face the claimed "Charity Project" which turned death and murders into a daily routine.
The brutality of the American-Israeli Aggression requires should be confronted with the purpose to build a huge humanitarian network. The power of such network shall be inspired by the fact that justice is the axis of Arab and Islamic culture and that international justice is the most faultless concept among other modernism concepts. As a nation aware of the meaning of justice, armed by the weapons of culture, and has the potentials of renaissance; we must climb to the top of this resistance against barbarianism and in support of all humanitarian standards.
